I would like to rent a bike while in Amsterdam , but can't ride a conventional bike due to balance problems. Does anyone know of a place that rents adult sized tricycles trikes. I have seen the cargo trikes, but they look too big for leisure riding.
I made a similiar search about nine months ago. On my own I was unable to locate such a rental, including going through the government welfare organization. Then I asked the hotel I was planning to stay at for their help.
I had stayed with these folks before and they were always helpful. After quite a bit of searching on their part, they indicated that they could find an adult trike rental. As it turns out, my daughter 25 elected not to follow up, so I do not know the name of the rental. If you do not yet have a hotel, may I suggest the Hotel Ambassade ; they are superb.
You have probably seen these but you can rent the smaller type of cargo biike called bakfiets in Dutch. I have never seen tricycle rentals here but perhaps one of the many bike rental companies might do them.
The bakfiets are commonly used by people here to transport their children to school etc so the smaller ones are very manageable.
